Group Interpretation
Group Interpretation (GI) is a dynamic and creative event in competitive speech where a group of performers (typically 3 to 8 students) interpret a published literary work—like a novel, short story, or play—through vocal expression, movement, and limited props. Unlike traditional theater, GI emphasizes narration, ensemble movement, and precise timing over full-scale acting and costumes. It challenges students to think critically, collaborate intensely, and perform with energy and purpose.
For students considering joining, Group Interpretation is more than just performance—it's a chance to develop public speaking skills, confidence, teamwork, and artistic expression. It’s also a pathway to recognition: our students compete in both IHSA and SSC competitions.

Tryouts will take place prior to our Christmas break. Traditionally, we will practice 2 days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3 - 5 p.m. Our competitions will occur on March 14 and 21st.
